Roots
in the Swiss Watch Industry
.
More than 60 years ago
Outils Rubis
manufactured their first tweezers for the Swiss watch industry. Only
the most precise instruments of the highest quality could be used to
assemble delicate mechanical clockworks. Hence, a tradition of
craftsmanship with a keen awareness of functional precision and
aesthetic form was developing that all along has also been a virtue
of Swiss watch producers.
Origin
of the name
.
The
Rubis
name was derived from the Swiss watch makers who used these
precision tweezers to place the ruby stones into watch movements and
so they naturally and simply called them
Rubis
tweezers.
.
The combination of quality and philosophy of functional design led
the way to successful industrial design of every day implements and
a name of prestige.
.
In addition the
Rubis
philosophy of
combining modern technical know how, experience and unparalleled
functional design has produced implements that since 1992 up to the
year 2000 have won ten international design prizes.
.
In 1997
Rubis
moved into their newly built state of the art manufacturing
facilities. The newest and latest manufacturing techniques are
housed in a building that is a mixture of practical, modern and
elegant simplicity, reflecting the
Rubis
Corporate identity and design philosophy.
